On Wednesday, January 13th five sections of 3rd Grade Colt Elementary students participated in the District's very first "iCreate" U of I Extension career exploration lesson entitled "Cha-Ching!"
The iCreate lessons are designed to encourage student's creative/entrepreneurial spirit. U of I Program Coordinator Valerie Belusko facilitated a lesson centered on what taxes are and how they are used. Students also learned the importance of buying local to support their community services. Litchfield Career Services Coordinator Abby Carlson assisted in the delivery of the lesson that concluded with students drawing pictures of uniquely new businesses they might like to start in their community.
The "iDream iCreate" U of I Extension curriculum remains a centerpiece of Litchfield CUSD #12's intentional plan of assisting every student with career pathway exploration so that every student leaves high school confident in their initial career plan.
