Creating pathways and breaking down barriers to spark interest in career and technical education was the focus of a workforce summit, hosted by Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski, at Lincoln Land Community College on Monday, October 21st.
The summit emphasized the importance of updating school curriculums and embracing innovative approaches to incorporate trades classes. Participants also advocated for more state and federal funding for Career and Technical Education (CTE) and stressed the need to shift perceptions away from the idea that a four-year college degree is the only path to a well-paying career. Panelists shared their views on how CTE programs positively impact student outcomes, such as graduation rates, and contribute significantly to workforce development.
